Adoption Fees
All Dogs   $ 165.00

Any dog over the age of 6 months must receive a rabies vaccine & obtain a dog license. The adoption paperwork and interview process takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please arrive at the shelter early enough to spend some time with the animal and complete the adoption process. Westfield Animal Control and Shelter reserves the right to deny adoption to anyone at any time for any reason. In order to do what is best for each animal, they are adopted on a first come first served basis to qualified recipients only. A drivers license or state ID must be shown at the shelter

Reclaim Fees
Impound Fee   $ 60.00
Boarding Charge   $ 15.00

If you find your pet on these search pages, call to notify the shelter immediately and then come in to confirm identification. Stray dogs will be held for 7 days. Owners will also be responsible for paying a boarding fee of $15.00 per day in addition to a $60.00 administrative fee. If not claimed by their owner in that time, they will be made available for adoption. Per MGL Chapter 140 and the City of Westfield's ordinances, you must show proof of a current rabies vaccine and also a current city dog license to claim your dog.

Dog licenses can be purchased at the Westfield Animal Shelter located at 178 Apremont Way (Monday - Friday 12pm-4pm and Saturday 10am-4pm) or at the Westfield Police Department located at 15 Washington Street (Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm). Massachusetts General Law (MGL) requires that all dogs 6 months of age and older be licensed by April 1st of each year. Dog licenses are also a great means of identification and can be traced 24 hours a day 7 days a week by either Animal Control or the Police Department. License costs are $15.00 for dog that has been spayed or neutered, or $30.00 if they are not. Please bring proof of current rabies vaccine and proof of neutering or spaying with you when licensing your dog.
